1) Automation is going to dominate the industry more than ever
A huge topic over the past decade, automation software has been around for a while now. With recruiters choosing marketing automation software such as Hubspot, Marketo and Salesforce, the less manual and administrative tasks the better. With the functionality to set out touch-points to send personalised emails, set reminders, arrange meetings and more for candidates and clients interacting with your website, if it’s something your recruitment agency has overlooked then it’s time to jump on board.
2) Brexit uncertainty
Don’t worry - this isn’t an argument for or against Brexit, however, closing your eyes and sticking your new EarPods in isn’t going to make Brexit disappear from the headlines. Whatever side of the fence you sit on, common ground tells us that this will have some impact on the recruitment industry. Reports say that candidate and client confidence in the UK economy is slowing down the recruitment industry with many jobs already moved to mainland Europe. On the other hand, EU workers living in the UK are still searching for jobs despite Brexit. It’s safe to say that whatever happens with Brexit, the industry will be feeling the consequences (good or bad) for the foreseeable future.
3) STEM-based skills will be more valuable
Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) based skills will be some of the most vital to look out for in candidates going forward as machinery and automation becomes ever more prevalent in society. Naturally, this shifts the paradigm of what we have seen as a skilled candidate in the past for many roles. As time goes on, we will see increased demand for more and more engineering roles.
