Release Notes is our monthly update as to what is going on with Volcanic product development. This is an easy way to stay up to date with all the great work we are doing!
Each month we highlight new features, improvements and fixes we are making to the platform. We are also working hard on lots of other items that may not always be visible: like our security, infrastructure, API and job search functionality. Some months we release more work than others, which is the nature of product development.
Structured data refers to kinds of data with a high level of organisation, such as information in a database. When information is highly structured and predictable, search engines such as Google find it easier to display the data in a creative way. Structured data markup is a text-based organisation of data that is included in a file and served from a website. Structured data is commonly referred to as Rich Snippets, or Featured Snippets and uses something called schema.org vocabulary. Schema is a cross Search Engine (Google, Yahoo, Bing) computer language aimed at providing better search results for users.
We have enabled structured data within the platform for all customers. This means that your jobs will be indexed by Google in the correct way without you needing to make any changes to settings or code.
Volcanic websites can be enabled with structured data included. This means you do not need to worry about applying this data yourself, simply ask for it to be turned on.
Structured Data is playing an increasingly important role in 'SEO' and for users is a convenient way to find relevant results. With Google expressing on a number of occasions that this tool will be central to providing varying results, it's extremely important that your website supports is, which is why we have invested the time to build this tool into the core of our platform.
We are constantly monitoring advancements and changes to this feature and expect many more changes and improvements to be implemented into our platform in the near future.
